Why Rent a Motorbike in Bangkok with RentLab

Most motorbike rental shops in Bangkok still operate the old way. They want your passport. They want 2,000 to 5,000 THB cash deposit. They want signatures on paper contracts written in Thai. They want you in their shop during their hours. RentLab does none of that.

RentLab is the first fully digital motorbike rental in Bangkok. You book online in five minutes. We verify your identity through Veriff (the same system banks use). We do not hold your passport. We do not take a cash deposit. You pick up the bike yourself from our garage near BTS Udom Suk, on your schedule. The whole experience is built for travelers who do not want to waste a half day arguing with a rental shop.

No Deposit, No Passport Held

Other Bangkok rental shops charge 2,000 to 5,000 THB deposit and hold your passport for the entire rental period. If something gets damaged, they decide what to charge from your deposit. You have no leverage. RentLab replaced this entire system with online identity verification. You keep your passport. You keep your money. You keep your leverage.

Online Booking in Five Minutes

Pick a motorbike above, choose your dates, pay online. Six payment methods including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Thai PromptPay. You get instant confirmation. No phone calls. No back and forth on WhatsApp asking if a bike is available. The booking system shows real availability in real time.

Self-Pickup Near BTS Udom Suk

Our garage is at 111/1 Sukhumvit 66/1, Bang Na, walking distance from BTS Udom Suk. One stop from On Nut. The pickup process uses a smart locker system, so you can collect your bike anytime within your booking window. No waiting for staff. No appointment needed.

Insurance and Equipment Included

Every rental includes third-party liability insurance. You also get two helmets, a phone holder, and a charger. Some bikes come with a rain jacket and string bag. No upsell. No "rental insurance" upcharge at pickup. Everything is in the price you saw online.

Choose the Right Motorbike for Your Bangkok Trip

Our fleet covers everything from a 110cc city scooter to a 300cc highway-capable motorbike. The right choice depends on what you actually need to do in Bangkok.

City Scooters (110cc-115cc) - Honda Zoomer X, Yamaha Fino

If you are riding only inside Bangkok, mainly Sukhumvit and the BTS corridor, a city scooter is enough. The Honda Zoomer X 110cc and Yamaha Fino 115cc handle city traffic well, are easy to park anywhere, and use less fuel than larger bikes. Daily rates start at 90 THB. These are not built for highways or two passengers with luggage.

All-Rounders (125cc-155cc) - Honda Click, Yamaha Aerox, NMAX

This is what most renters want. The Honda Click 125 is the most popular rental scooter in Bangkok for a reason. Reliable, fuel efficient, fast enough for any city situation. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is sportier with more acceleration. The Yamaha NMAX 155 has more storage and is more comfortable for two riders. All three handle expressway riding if you need to get out to Pattaya or Hua Hin direction. Daily rates 119 to 133 THB.

Larger Bikes (150cc-200cc) - GPX Drone Keyless, GPX GR200R

The GPX Drone 150cc Keyless is a step up in storage and comfort, with a smart key system. The GPX GR200R is a manual transmission bike with sportier handling. Both work for longer trips and riders who want something different from the standard scooter shape. Daily rates around 140 THB.

Highway and Touring (300cc) - Honda Forza 300

The Honda Forza 300 is our biggest bike. ABS brakes, full storage, comfortable for highway riding. If you are planning a multi-day trip outside Bangkok, this is the bike. Daily rate 210 THB. Note: 300cc bikes legally require a motorcycle license in Thailand. We will verify your license matches what you book.

Motorbike Rental Pricing in Bangkok

Rental cost depends on the bike model and how long you rent for. Daily rates are the most expensive way to rent. Weekly rates drop the daily cost by 15-20 percent. Monthly rates drop it by 40-50 percent.

Daily Rates

From 90 THB per day for a Honda Zoomer X to 210 THB per day for a Honda Forza 300. Most renters pick something in the 120-140 THB range (Honda Click, Yamaha Aerox, GPX Drone). All daily rates include insurance, two helmets, phone holder, charger, and access to our 24/7 support.

Weekly Rates (Save 15-20%)

If you are in Bangkok for more than three days, the weekly rate is cheaper than three daily rentals stacked together. The exact discount depends on the model. The booking system shows the weekly price automatically when you select a 7-day window.

Monthly Rates (Best Value)

For digital nomads, expats, or anyone staying 30+ days, the monthly rate cuts the daily cost roughly in half. A Honda Click 125 that costs 120 THB per day on a daily plan drops to about 60 THB per day on a monthly plan. We have a separate page with the full monthly scooter rental price breakdown if you want exact numbers for each bike.

How RentLab Bangkok Motorbike Rental Works

Four steps from booking to riding. The whole process takes about 30 minutes from the moment you decide to rent until you are on the bike.

Step 1: Pick Your Bike and Dates

Scroll up on this page. Choose a motorbike. The product page shows you the daily, weekly, and monthly rates with no hidden costs. Pick your start and end dates.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity Online

We use Veriff to verify your identity. You take a photo of your ID or passport, then a selfie. The system matches them automatically. Takes about two minutes. We do this so we know who you are without holding your physical passport.

Step 3: Pay Online

Six payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Thai PromptPay. Payment is processed by Stripe and PayPal. Your card details never touch our servers.

Step 4: Self-Pickup at the Garage

You get a pickup code by email. Go to our garage at 111/1 Sukhumvit 66/1, Bang Na. The smart locker system gives you the bike key when you enter your code. The bike is ready, fueled, and inspected. Walk-in pickup at the garage is also available if you prefer to chat with staff first.

What You Need to Rent a Motorbike in Bangkok

The legal requirements are simpler than most rental shops make them sound. Here is the honest answer.

License Requirements

Technically, Thai law requires a valid motorcycle license to ride a motorbike in Thailand. This means a Thai driving license with motorcycle endorsement, OR an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in your home country, OR a foreign motorcycle license (acceptable in some situations but not officially recognized). For motorbikes under 150cc, enforcement is inconsistent. For 300cc+ like the Forza, you need a license. Read our full guide to scooter and motorbike license rules in Thailand for the complete legal picture, including what happens if you get pulled over without one.

Age Requirements

You must be 18 or older to rent any motorbike from RentLab. Most international travel insurance also requires riders to be 21+ for motorcycle coverage, but that is between you and your insurance provider.

Why We Do Not Hold Your Passport or Take a Cash Deposit

Most Bangkok rental shops want your passport because they want leverage. If you damage the bike, they have your passport, so you cannot leave the country until you pay whatever they decide to charge. This is a problem because what they decide to charge can be arbitrary. RentLab solved this by using digital identity verification through Veriff, which is the same system used by major banks for KYC compliance. We know who you are. We have your verified identity on file. We do not need to hold your passport for that.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong

If the bike breaks down, contact us on WhatsApp. We will get you a replacement or a fix as fast as possible. If you have an accident, third-party liability insurance is included (covers injury to other people, not damage to the bike). For damage to the rented bike, charges are based on actual repair costs documented with photos and mechanic invoices, not arbitrary numbers. Read our guide on what happens if you crash a rental motorbike in Thailand for the full process.

Where You Can Ride Your RentLab Motorbike

Bangkok is the obvious answer, but RentLab motorbikes are not restricted to the city. The exception is some specific routes and areas which are off-limits per our rental agreement.

Bangkok City Riding

All RentLab bikes are designed for and most commonly used in Bangkok itself. Sukhumvit, Silom, Bang Na, Phra Khanong, On Nut, Ekkamai, Thong Lor, Asok, Phrom Phong, Chinatown, Khao San. Anywhere with roads in Bangkok is fair game.

Day Trips From Bangkok

Day trips work fine. Popular destinations within range of a Bangkok-based motorbike rental include Ayutthaya (90 km north), Samut Prakan (south), Nonthaburi (northwest), and Pak Kret floating market. We have a guide on the 5 best motorbike routes in Bangkok area for ideas.

Long Distance Touring

For longer trips like Bangkok to Pattaya, Hua Hin, or Khao Yai, the larger bikes (NMAX 155, GPX GR200R, Forza 300) are the right choice. City scooters under 125cc are not great for highway riding. Tell us when you book if you are planning a long-distance trip and we can recommend the right bike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a license to rent a motorbike in Bangkok?

Legally yes, you need a valid motorcycle license or International Driving Permit. RentLab verifies your identity but does not require you to upload your license to complete a booking for bikes under 150cc. For our 300cc Forza, we do require license verification because Thai police actively check for licenses on larger bikes. Riding without a valid license means fines if stopped (400-1,000 THB), voided travel insurance, and full personal liability if you have an accident. See our complete license guide.

Can a tourist rent a motorbike in Bangkok?

Yes. Tourists rent motorbikes in Bangkok every day. RentLab specifically does not require a Thai work permit, lease, or local address. Most other rental shops in Bangkok still require a passport copy and 2,000-5,000 THB cash deposit. We replaced both with online identity verification.

How much does it cost to rent a motorbike in Bangkok?

Daily rates start at 90 THB for a Honda Zoomer X 110cc and go up to 210 THB for a Honda Forza 300cc. Most renters pay 120-140 THB per day for a mid-range bike like the Honda Click 125 or Yamaha Aerox 155. Weekly rentals are 15-20 percent cheaper than daily, and monthly rentals cut the daily cost roughly in half. See the full pricing breakdown.

Is it safe to ride a motorbike in Bangkok?

Bangkok traffic is intense but predictable once you understand it. The biggest safety risks are riding without a helmet, riding without insurance, riding bikes that have not been properly maintained, and riding above your skill level. RentLab addresses three of those four directly. The fourth is on you. Read our guide on how to ride a scooter safely in Bangkok for practical riding tips.

What happens if the motorbike breaks down?

Contact us immediately on WhatsApp. We respond within 1 hour during business hours (10 AM to 10 PM). We will either send a mechanic to your location or arrange a replacement bike, depending on the situation. You do not pay extra for breakdowns or normal wear and tear. You only pay for damage caused by the rider.

Can I extend my rental?

Yes. Open your booking in your account panel and tap Extend. The system shows you the available extension dates and the price. You can extend by hours, days, or weeks. Extension is not guaranteed if another booking is queued for the same bike, so extend as early as you know you need to.

Do you deliver the motorbike to my hotel?

RentLab does not currently offer delivery. Our model is built around self-pickup at our garage in Bang Na (near BTS Udom Suk, one stop from On Nut). This is what keeps our prices lower than competitors who deliver. The garage is BTS-accessible and pickup takes about 5 minutes.

What if I crash the rental motorbike?

Get yourself safe first, then contact us on WhatsApp with photos of the bike, the location, and any other vehicles or property involved. Third-party liability insurance covers injuries to other people. Damage to the rented motorbike is your responsibility, charged at actual repair cost (we send you the mechanic invoice and photos). Read our complete guide to crash and damage policies.
